About this fundraiser:
The Palomares Hawkathon is a yearly walk-a-thon held at Palomares Elementary, and it is the school’s main fundraiser. This year it will be held on Friday, October 25, from 1:45 pm to 4:00 pm. 100% of the Hawkathon donations are used to enrich your child’s experience and education. Our goal is to have each student raise a minimum of $225 for Palomares Elementary to reach an overall fundraising goal of $30,600.
This fun event, run and managed by the Palomares Parent Teacher Club (PPTC), brings together students, teachers, friends, families and the local community in the ambitious commitment to fund a whole new academic year.
Throughout the weeks leading up to this energetic, old fashioned walk-a-thon, students collect pledges of donations, which can be either flat amount or per lap. The day of the event is as much a celebration of the Palomares Spirit as it is a big party where families and friends are invited to cheer for their little walkers/runners. The athletes "earn" sponsored prizes for achieving milestone laps. Prizes will be awarded to the participants who collected the most donations and also to classrooms that have the highest percentage of participation. Every student is welcome and encouraged to join in the fun, and collecting pledges is not a condition for participation.
Donations may be made online via 99Pledges or on paper pledge sheets. Children who participate in the Hawkathon must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and permission slips should be turned in beforehand.
