🥳 Founded in1956, Happy Valley is turning 70 this year! That's right, this year's Move-a-thon is going to TAKE THE CAKE! Our students are getting ready to run, walk, and celebrate around the track at our school’s biggest fundraiser on Friday, October 2nd, where we'll say "Happy Birthday, Happy Valley!"

🎈How to Join the Party

Leading up to the big day, our P.E. Specialist Mrs. Flink will help students set goals and track their progress to prepare for our annual event! We hope you’ll sponsor your student for this movement-inspired birthday-themed fundraiser. Students will complete as many laps as they are able (6 laps = 1 mile!). Our goal is to raise $200 per child. Every gift of any size helps. Please help your student reach out to friends and family, too.

🎁 Why Do We Raise Funds?

Bellingham Public Schools is facing roughly $7.5 million in budget challenges for 2026–27. This year, our librarian position has been eliminated, our school counselor has been reduced to half time, our 5th Grade Outdoor School Overnight has been placed on hold indefinitely. That’s why PTA dollars help fill that gap with field trips, teacher grants, STEAM resources, and experiences that make Happy Valley special. Nearly 50% of our families are already navigating financial stress, and last year, families requested $13,473 dollars in enrichment scholarships alone. Our community’s support matters more than ever!

ALL students get to participate in the Move-a-thon and enjoy the prizes, celebration, and community spirit, no matter how much is raised, and we never single out students for the amounts they bring in.

Put on a Party Hat: Volunteer to cheer, set up, or count laps, and help make the day special—it takes a whole community to throw a shindig!

Help Our Wishes Come True: Every dollar brings us closer to our goal and helps Happy Valley continue providing meaningful opportunities for our students. You know what they say about gifts of money, they're always the perfect size AND color!

And thanks to our PTA bylaws, 10% of every dollar raised is gifted to other Bellingham schools through the Elementary Partners Equity Project, supporting students with the greatest need across the district.
