About this fundraiser:

We are so happy to be having our 2nd Read-A-Thon! The Read-A-Thon is the MAIN fundraiser that the school and PTA host together! The money raised pays for so many great things at JA Vargas: field trips (virtual this year!), classroom supplies, playground equipment, assemblies and author visits, 5th grade promotion, special treats, community events, and so much more! The more money raised, the more amazing things we can offer at JA Vargas Elementary!

The Read-A-Thon is a two week event that starts on March 2nd and ends on March 15th. The Read-A-Thon is all about reading and encouraging students to read a certain number of minutes each day! Your student can begin logging their reading minutes on March 2nd and log their minutes all the way through March 15th. This year, rewards will mostly be on a classroom level and by grade, but there will be some individual rewards as well! During the week of March 8th through the 12th, special events will be happening in your child’s classroom including live guest readers from the community and virtual spirit days! There will be tons of new excitement all centered around reading!

While reading is the most important part of the Read-a-Thon, this is a fundraiser too! Each student is encouraged to raise a minimum of $30. Your friends and family may donate two different ways! You can ask for family or friends to donate a fixed amount or someone can pledge an amount per minute that your child reads. Either way you help your school raise necessary funds to make awesome things happen at JA Vargas Elementary!
