About this fundraiser:
Cassie has been “Touched by Cancer… again” and she needs our hope, courage, and strength. Recently, Cassie was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer in her spine. To know her is to know she is a fighter with unmatchable strength and endurance. With this fight comes different treatment routines and cancer medications, some of which are not covered by insurance. So, we have created this fundraiser to help Cassie with her battle, to cover these costs, and offer support to her & her family through this journey.
Cassie Brogdon is a fighter, she is a support of the community, and she is also an amazing wife to her husband Brian and mom to her two children, Cole and Mackenzie. Shortly after the birth of her daughter, Cassie discovered she had breast cancer for the first time. Being a new mom at the time with a 2-year-old at home, you can imagine this was rather devastating news. Cassie, however, didn’t stay down for long. She immediately got going on fighting her cancer, which is when she literally got up and went running. Running gave Cassie the time and space she needed to help her clear her mind of the stressors of life and challenges that came with fighting cancer. But, running also gave her body the endurance to keep moving and staying healthy. Over the years, Cassie has remained committed to her exercise and running routine.
Just a couple of months ago Cassie found out she has metastatic stage 4 breast cancer, and it has traveled to her spine. Cassie did what she does best; she remained committed to keeping a positive attitude and to staying active. Despite feeling fatigued by the medication and the pain from the cancer, Cassie keeps going.
Cassie has been a volunteer within the community by being a board member and/or supporter of The First Tee, Wounded Warriors, Women’s Council of Realtors, The Young Professional Network, Relay for Life, Warmth from the Heart, Central Valley Association of Realtors, #TeamMason, the Salvation Army, and Sylvan School District PTA. It is now our time as a community to give back to Cassie. MBC has no cure, but treatment options and drug trials are available to her and showing great success. We are hosting this fundraiser “Jog-4-Hope” for her because not all her treatment expenses are covered by insurance, especially the trials. As a community and family, we want to help support Cassie through her journey and fight against MBC. We feel the best way to make this happen is to do it in true Cassie form, by running!
