Help Us Build a New Home for Wells Youth Baseball

Wells Youth Baseball is a non-profit organization run by parent and family volunteers. This year, Wells Youth Baseball is facing a significant change.

The Ida B. Wells Modernization construction project will begin in earnest this spring. Once the Jackson Middle School turf project is completed, high school baseball players will shift to Jackson 1, as they lose access to Clopton Field on the Wells campus. As a result, Wells Youth Baseball WILL NOT have a traditional home field this coming spring.

We are working to change that.

Our goal is to make improvements at Smith School so it can serve as a home for Wells Youth Baseball and accommodate 50/70 and 60/90 field dimensions needed for JBO-level play. The work will happen in stages, and the scope of improvements will depend in part on the funds we are able to raise.

Your support will help us extend the field at Smith School, including field soil and turface, equipment and machinery rentals and to address the grass, and new materials for the field including pitching mounds and bases. As the project progresses, we will also need to improve and extend safety fencing, add additional netting, and relocate the batting cages previously at Jackson Middle School.

Additionally, as available facilities are reduced or eliminated, fundraising dollars may also help offset the cost of renting other public fields and facilities for games and practices.
Every donation helps us take another step toward creating a safe, functional home for Wells Youth Baseball.

Hit-A-Thon — Tuesday, October 20

Unable to attend the Hit-A-Thon? No problem. WYB is still accepting donations. Prizes will be awarded to the top three individual players with the highest fundraising totals.
