Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you for visiting my page. I am participating in the Blue Granite Climb-A-Thon Fundraiser to raise money for victims of the devastating Caldor Fire.

I'm excited because I'm asking for sponsors to help me reach my fundraising goal. I am going to climb as many pitches as I can from Oct. 1-29. Will you help by sponsoring me with $1 per pitch? Or, by making a simple flat donation?

Thank you for all of your support and encouragement!

About this fundraiser:

CLIMB PITCHES, RAISE MONEY!
Climb as many pitches as you can to raise money for victims of the devastating Caldor Fire.

SIGN UP TO BE A CLIMBER:
Sign up on the Blue Granite website: https://bluegraniteclimbing.com/. Each Climber gets their own page, from which they can recruit Sponsors. Registration fee is $20, paid to Blue Granite to help cover organizational & logistical costs and credit card fees. After you sign up on the Blue Granite website, please allow up to 48 hours to be assigned your participant page (although we will try to be faster).

Climbers will climb as many outdoor pitches as they can between Oct. 1 and Oct. 29 (6pm). Climbers that climb the most pitches and who raise the most money will be awarded prizes on Friday, Oct. 29 at the Blue Granite 3-Year Anniversary Party & Boulder Comp.

DONATE MONEY / SPONSOR A CLIMBER:
Choose a Climber ("Participant") to support. Sponsors can donate a $ per pitch amount, or a flat donation. This event is organized entirely by Blue Granite Climbing Gym, but 100% OF DONATIONS go directly to the El Dorado Community Foundation "Caldor Fund" and are tax deductible (for info on Tamarack Fire donations please read below).

When you make a donation, you will be asked to if you want to donate a tip to the organizers, this tip goes to the platform "99 Pledges", not to Blue Granite.

After the event is concluded, Blue Granite Climbing Gym will make an additional donation, equal to 10% of funds raised for the Caldor Fund, to victims of the Tamarack Fire, via the official GoFundMe organized by the Alpine County Chamber of Commerce (up to $2000).

MORE INFO ON BLUE GRANITE CLIMBING GYM:
Blue Granite Climbing Gym is a rock climbing gym located in South Lake Tahoe, CA. We are a relatively new business, started in 2018 by Tahoe residents Gianna and Brad. Our core values from day one have been Community, Inclusivity, Safety & Fun. With community at our core, we have made the Climb-A-Thon fundraiser an annual event. We love seeing the climbing community come together to do good.

MORE INFO ON THE CALDOR AND TAMARACK FIRES:
The Tamarack Fire started burning south of South Lake Tahoe, on July 4, 2021. The fire burned approximately 70,000 acres, greatly affecting the small communities of Markleeville, Alpine Village, and Woodfords. The fire destroyed at least 20 structures.
For simplicity in the logistics of this event, Blue Granite is making a flat donation of $1000 to the Tamarack Fire victims, and 100% of donations from this Climb-A-Thon will go toward the Caldor Fire. If you would like to make additional donations to Tamarack Fire victims, please do so here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/tamarack-fire-assistance

The Caldor Fire started burning on August 14, west of South Lake Tahoe, in the community of Grizzly Flats. After completely devastating Grizzly Flats, the fire continued charging eastward through Kyburz and Strawberry, and threatening Meyers and South Lake Tahoe. At the time of this posting (9/22), the fire had burned about 220,000 acres and destroyed almost 800 homes and 20 businesses. The fire is still burning and is 76% contained.

Both of these events strike close to home for Blue Granite. Many of our local crags will be forever impacted by this event. We are so grateful for all the firefighters who worked so hard to miraculously save our homes in Meyers and South Lake. However, many people from Grizzly Flats and along the Hwy 50 corridor were less fortunate. It's moments like these when it's most important for our communities to come together and support eachother. Please help us meet (or exceed!) our fundraising goal.

Your donations will help pay for:
