Sponsor your reader with a one-time donation! Help Lowville Elementary School put a book vending machine in our hallway! With your support, all kids will be able to earn a token to be used towards a FREE book choice.

A book vending machine in our elementary school will both encourage reading habits and promote literacy. The machine will provide an opportunity for ALL of our students to discover new books, explore different genres, and develop a love for reading. Putting books into the hands of our students is such a fantastic reward!

The novelty of using a vending machine to select books will prove to be engaging and fun. Putting a token into a vending machine and watching your book choice fall into your hands is just plain old fun. It also cements for children that books are treats worth working for. The experience will certainly add an element of excitement to the reading experience and it just may motivate kids to pick up that book and read. We need more books in the homes of all of our children.

Students will earn tokens to be used in the book vending machine. The tokens will be earned as rewards for a variety of positive behaviors. The tokens will reward students while at the same time encouraging literacy!

BOTH the reward and the book can boost kids' self-esteem and confidence, as they receive validation for their actions. Feeling appreciated and acknowledged encourages students to continue making positive choices ... all while being certain that kids have books of their very own!
