About this fundraiser:
Established in 2015 and named after DC resident Mamie "Peanut" Johnson whom was the first female pitcher to play in the Negro Leagues. MJLL mission is to provide families in Southeast DC, the opportunity to learn and play the game of baseball. Our goal is to teach baseball, increase community involvement and provide a great experience for our community.
To keep registration fees low to allow all families of Ward 7 to participate, fundraising and applying for grants is a major source of our operating budget. It covers charter fees, insurance, field permit fees, umpire fees, uniforms, equipment, awards among other expenses.
MJLL has won the DC State Tournament and advanced to the Little League World Series Regional in Bristol Connecticut which was a major accomplishment is such a few short seasons. We also participate with the Little League Urban Initiative Baseball Program which is held in the Bronx, NY as well as host the Little League Softball Urban Initiative in DC.
Our kids learn as much off the field as they do on the field. We believe this is because of the incredible players, the awesome coaches and more importantly the incredible support from our families and community. Please know that no amount is too small. Your ongoing backing and support of our players is truly appreciated.
