Help spread the word

We appreciate you taking the time to be a part of Cold Water Connections! It is your kind donations, pledges, and encouragement that makes this event happen. Thanks!
About this fundraiser:
At 10am on Saturday, January 15th 2022, a group of well-meaning (and completely sane) sponsee's will go down to the Belfast Harbor, and jump in the water. They will attempt to stay in immersed in the water for as long as possible, but with a 15 minute MAX for obvious reasons (for more information about cold water immersion, you can visit this website: https://www.wimhofmethod.com/cold-water-immersion). We are asking that you make a pledge for each minute they are able to remain in the water, or to simply donate a flat amount if that seems more comfortable for you. OR...join us in the water and raise some money yourself!!
What are we doing this craziness for? Well, Maine is one of the most warm, open, and welcoming places in the country, and we'd like to help show that by supporting some of the newest Mainers out there that are trying to make the difficult transition into a new and challenging life far from everything they may know. To that point, we found three great organizations helping do just that!
The Maine Immigrant and Refugee Services (MEIRS), the Immigrant Resource Center of Maine (formerly United Somali Women of Maine), and the Capital Area New Mainers Project (CANMP) are three of the foremost refugee relocation and support services in Maine. While representing different community areas, they are are all deeply involved in almost every aspect of the resettlement process. That’s organizing and furnishing housing, setting up language classes, educating about local culture, helping navigate complicated bureaucratic hurdles, providing winter clothing, connecting new families to locals in their communities, and so many more critical services.
In the end, we think this will be a fun and "shiver"-lrous way to support a few worthy organizations in our great state. Please consider helping in whatever way you feel able.
