Mighty, Mighty, Det 590!

On September 19, 2026, a team of 17 cadets from AFROTC Detachment 590, UNC Chapel Hill will descend on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to represent the Tar Heel State at the USAF Marathon. From the full marathon to the 10k, our team is tackling the full spectrum of endurance. Alongside them, the rest of our cadets and Cadre members will be training throughout the summer to crush next semester’s PFAs.

We want you to be part of it!

How This "Run-a-Thon" Works-

Per-Mile Pledges: Pick an amount per mile. Your final donation is tallied at the end of the fundraiser based on every mile that individual logged in training and on race day. The more they run, the more your pledge means.

One-Time Donations: Prefer a set amount? Every dollar you give makes an impact!

Why It Matters-

Every dollar raised goes directly into the cadets’ student organization. By supporting our runners, you are providing the critical resources needed to transform students into world-class officers. Your contributions will fund high-impact professional development and training experiences that keep our best and brightest in the program, and the vital morale and welfare events that build the "Wingman" bond long before these cadets reach active duty.

Furthermore, these funds allow our cadets to organize and execute regional leadership exercises with neighboring AFROTC programs, purchase equipment, and host community outreach initiatives that help bridge the gap between our civilian and military-affiliated students on campus. From supporting the logistics of our weekly LLABs to funding the graduation ceremonies that mark the start of their military careers, your generosity touches every aspect of the cadet experience.
