Heights for Hearts

Dear Friends and Family,

On October 7, I am tying in and chalking up to climb as many routes as I can in one hour, raising money for the Blue Granite Climbing Gym's Community Climbing Initiative. This new program supports the South Lake Tahoe community by removing barriers to climbing, broadening accessibility to the sport, promoting and celebrating inclusivity, and providing under-resourced youth and under-represented populations the opportunity to experience rock climbing.

I would appreciate if you could support me by making a donation either per route, or a flat donation (per route donations include all routes climbed by my team).

If you are unable to donate, please consider volunteering as a belayer (signup here):

Or take part in the massive cleanup event, hosted by the Yosemite Climbing Association, also taking place on October 7 (more info here):

Thanks in advance for your support!

About this fundraiser:

Blue Granite Climbing Gym is raising funds this year for their new and exciting program...the Community Climbing Initiative!

The event will take place on Saturday, October 7. Climbers will have 1 hour to climb as many routes as they can. Share your team's fundraising link with friends and family to get as many sponsors as you can. There will prizes for the individual with the most routes climbed, as well as the team with the most money earned (so go get those sponsors!).

How do I sign up to climb? Team captains must register with Blue Granite. Then you will receive your team fundraising link. You can register at the gym or online here: https://bluegranite.portal.approach.app/schedule?startDate=2023-10-07&endDate=2023-10-07&categoryIds=5&locationIds=2

What is Blue Granite's Community Climbing Initiative? This program is dedicated to removing barriers to climbing, broadening accessibility to the sport, promoting and celebrating inclusivity, and providing under-resourced youth and under-represented populations the opportunity to experience rock climbing.

In 2023, we ran a pilot program where we were able to partner with the Boys & Girls Club and Sierra Child & Family Services to provide low cost climbing teams for youth participants. Next year we plan to offer these team options again, but at no-cost, as well as getting the parents/guardians involved too, offering free family climbing lessons and punch passes for youth and families in need. Help us reach our $10k goal to support this program!
