A Tribe Called Crux

Dear Friends and Family,

On December 8, my teammates—Rebecca, Max, Andy, and I—will be climbing as part of “A Tribe Called Crux” to raise money for the Blue Granite Climbing Gym’s Community Climbing Initiative. We’re gearing up to climb as many routes as we can in one hour. We might not be the fastest team, and we definitely won’t be the strongest, but we promise to give it our all!

This awesome new program is all about making climbing more accessible to the South Lake Tahoe community—breaking down barriers, celebrating inclusivity, and giving under-resourced youth and under-represented populations the chance to experience the thrill of rock climbing.

I’d love your support! You can donate per route or make a flat donation (per route donations cover all the routes we climb).

Your tax-deductible donation will go straight to the Tahoe Climbing Coalition, a 501c3 (EIN: 83-3486872), and all funds raised will help fund the Community Climbing Initiative.

About this fundraiser:

Blue Granite Climbing Gym is raising funds this year for their new and exciting program...the Community Climbing Initiative!

The event will take place on Sunday, December 8. Climbers will have 1 hour to climb as many routes as they can. Share your team's fundraising link with friends and family to get as many sponsors as you can. There will be a prize for the individual with the most routes climbed, a raffle for all participants, as well as a grand prize for the team with the most money earned (so go get those sponsors!).

How do I sign up to climb? Team captains must register with Blue Granite. Then you will receive your team fundraising link. You can register at the gym or online here: https://bluegranite.portal.approach.app/schedule?startDate=2023-10-07&endDate=2023-10-07&categoryIds=5&locationIds=2

What is Blue Granite's Community Climbing Initiative?
The purpose of the Blue Granite Community Climbing Initiative is to remove barriers to climbing, broaden accessibility to the sport, promote and celebrate inclusivity, and provide under-resourced youth and under-represented populations the opportunity to experience rock climbing. Our pilot program kicked off in 2023; in our first year we were able to fund or provide scholarships for: 3 youth summer climbing teams (serving 30 participants), 4 private youth lessons, 1 private family lesson, 10 day passes, 4 youth team scholarships, and the routesetting at the new boulder at Ski Run Park which provides free access to climbing for our local community. We have a great partnership with Boys & Girls Club and Sierra Child & Family Services, helping us to identify and include children and families that would benefit the most from our program. Our program goals are to continue offering opportunities to under-resourced youth, expanding to offer more family and adult opportunities, and offering free educational programming, incorporating outdoor climbing etiquette, Leave No Trace principles, and stewardship as well.

Your tax-deductible donation will go to the Tahoe Climbing Coalition, a 501c3 (EIN: 83-3486872). All funds raised by this event are earmarked for the Community Climbing Initiative.

Help us reach our $10k goal to support this program!
