Hi everyone,

I’m not gonna pretend this message is from Felix because… We all know it’s Mummy! Anyway, I’m super late to the read-a-thon this month. Can you help us catch up to our goal?

Throughout March, Fe’s reading (and writing) skills have been absolutely skyrocketing. He reads at least one short book a day. He’s beginning to ask for help crafting narratives to support his imaginative illustrations. He is ordering for himself off menus. Even his verbal language is evolving. All of this is a direct result of Dicken!

This fundraiser is more important than ever, given the financial challenges we’re facing in the Ann Arbor Public School system. As a member of the Dicken Elementary PTO board, I can personally attest to the thoughtful and diligent process we use to allocate the enrichment budget. Your tax-deductible donations will help Dicken by supporting staff grants and funding upcoming events like field day and the ice cream social (which is chaired by yours truly).

Dicken is a community where student learning thrives and children feel good about the place they call their school. We believe that this is because of the incredible students that attend our school, the awesome staff who believe that relationships with students are key to optimal learning and more importantly the incredible support of our families. We could not engage in the wonderful learning opportunities and the fun things we do here without your monetary support. Please know that no amount is too small. Your ongoing backing and support are both truly appreciated.

Our goal this year is to have fun while reading! Each class will have their own goals, whether it’s reading minutes, number of books, of even completing reading Bingo (read out loud to a stuffy in an accent could be one of the bingo items!). Our voracious readers can also showcase their artwork by designing book covers and turning them in. We will showcase them in the display case outside of the office and at Schuler’s bookstore
