Help spread the word
Dear Friends and Family,
I'm participating in my dance school's March Madness fundraising competition. I'm excited to participate because this event raises money for me and my classmates to continue to train and study dance in a state-of-the art facility.
I'm asking for sponsors to help me reach my fundraising goal. Will you help by making a donation to my campaign?
Thank you for all of your support!
About this fundraiser:
The Georgia Ballet’s Raising the Barre campaign is focused on much-needed facility upgrades and renovations. The project will include the demolition and reconstruction of The Georgia Ballet Studios’ entrance ramp and deck, which will make the entrance more accessible and compliant with commercial building regulations and structural safety standards. In addition, The Georgia Ballet’s largest studio, Studio 1, will be converted into a flexible mixed-use space, serving as both a dance studio for the professional company and students of The School of The Georgia Ballet as well as an intimate “black-box”-style theatre. This renovation will include an overhaul of the building’s already-inadequate electrical system, installation of overhead professional theatre lighting and audio systems, lighting controller, digital audio mixing board, video projector and automatic projection screen, and black-out shades for windows and doors.
This project will allow The Georgia Ballet to expand outreach programming and utilize the new accessible in-house theatre space to produce and present new programs and rehearse and tour new and existing productions. The Georgia Ballet’s professional company will be able to present more high-quality in-studio performances in the new space with the improved lighting and sound additions. Audiences of all types will be able to attend and enjoy a production that is not only excellent in artistic quality but also in a professional theatrical environment.
Due to limited venues that are suitable for professional ballet performance without exorbitant rental rates in the area, the renovation will allow for the creation of more performance opportunities not only for The Georgia Ballet but other performing companies in the region. The improved accessibility portion of the renovation will also allow us to provide performances for pre-schools, day cares, senior centers, and assisted living community groups during the day while they have access to provided bus and/or van transportation.
The total estimated cost of $87,949.00 includes the purchase of technical equipment, labor, permits, and rental equipment. The Georgia Ballet has been awarded a Cultural Facilities Matching Grant from the Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) to support this project in the amount of $43,975, half of the total projected expenses. GCA’s Cultural Facilities Grants provide support for the renovation, restoration, preservation or acquisition of an arts facility, and the purchase of equipment that supports arts programs. This grant program has historically prioritized arts organizations in rural communities. The Georgia Ballet is honored to be the first organization in Cobb County and one of very few cultural institutions in the Metro-Atlanta region to receive this highly-competitive grant and to have the support of the State of Georgia. Through the significant commitment and support of this matching grant, the impact of your gift to The Georgia Ballet’s Raising the Barre campaign will be DOUBLED.
Please know that no amount is too small. Your support is truly appreciated.
Your donations will help pay for:
