Dear Friends and Family,

I am getting ready to swing next month in the 1st Annual Jaguar HIT-A-THON at Ankeny Centennial High School April 30th, 2022. This event raises money for me and my teammate to help offset annual expenses of softball program including new equipment and uniforms. Longer term, replace the stadium’s fencing with netting to upgrade the game-watching experience for fans and the program would also like to install a new brick backstop.

Similar to a home run derby, during the Hit-A-Thon each player gets 10 swings. My longest hit in fair territory (roll included) is used for pledge calculation. For example if a player’s longest hit is 200 feet and the sponsor pledged 25 cents per foot, that sponsor’s total pledge would be $50. Sponsors also have the option of donating a specified fixed amount.

I would appreciate it (and so would my teammates) if you could help support me.

Thanks in advance for your support!

About this fundraiser:

3rd ANNUAL JAGUAR HIT-A-THON
WHAT IS THE HIT-A-THON
Ankeny Centennial Softball will be holding its 2nd Annual Jaguar Hit-A-Thon fundraiser to help support Ankeny Centennial High School Softball Program.

Join the Jags for a fun-filled afternoon at the ACHS Softball Fields on Saturday, April 30th starting at 12:00pm to watch players and other VIPs swing for the fences. This is a great opportunity to spend the afternoon as a Jaguar softball family and inspire future Jags while also raising funds for the program!

HOW DOES THE HIT-A-THON WORK
Players will promote the Hit-A-Thon prior to the event to recruit sponsors who will pledge to support them based on their performance at the Hit-A-Thon. All sponsors will complete their pledges by filling out a player’s pledge form (online or in person). Similar to a home run derby, during the Hit-A-Thon each player gets 10 swings. The player’s longest hit in fair territory (roll included) is used for pledge calculation. For example, if a player’s longest hit is 200 feet and the sponsor pledged 25 cents per foot, that sponsor’s total pledge would be $50 ($.25 x 200). If the player does not hit a ball over the fence, the distance of 200 feet will be the measurement. Players will meet with sponsors after the event to share their success and collect pledges.

Sponsors have the option of donating a fixed amount if they choose. All (in-person) donations received before the Hit-A-Thon (check or cash) must be handed in to Coach Delaney with completed pledge forms on the day of the event. Please make your check payable to the “Jaguar Softball Club.” Online pledge forms will be complete automatically at the end of the event.

Parents, friends, and families can also get in on the fun. For just $5.00, Jag Softball supporters can jump in the batter’s box and take 5 pitches. Step up and swing for the fences!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Ankeny Centennial High School softball team has a rich tradition in excellence both on and off the field, helping student-athletes accomplish their goals during their years in the program and beyond.

Academically, our student-athletes have consistently been strong performers in the classroom.

The program is asking for your assistance by sponsoring — whether you’re a current or former player, parent, or community member — where your contributions would help offset these annual expenses and help with major expenditures, including: Purchase new uniforms for our players. Buy new pitching machines, technology, and various team activities. Longer term, the program would also like to replace the stadium’s fencing with netting to upgrade the game-watching experience for fans and install a new brick backstop.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact head varsity coach Brett Delaney at brett.delaney@ankneyschools.org.

Our program wouldn’t be the way it is today if it weren’t for our dedicated players, alumni, families, and community. On behalf of everyone associated with ACHS Softball, thank you for your continued support. Go Jaguars!

Your donations will help pay for:

  • new uniforms
