Help spread the word
Dear Friends and Family,
I am diving into my books and reading my best for my school's Read-a-thon. I'm excited to be a part of it because this event raises money for my school, including our outdoor classroom, our teachers, and our PE program.
I'm going to read as much as I can over the next few weeks, and I'm asking for sponsors to help me reach my fundraising goal. Will you help by making a pledge per minute that I read or a simple flat donation?
Thank you for all of your support and encouragement!
About this fundraiser:
Thank you for supporting Joslin Elementary School! This is our 2nd read-a-thon, and we are hoping to get even more students reporting minutes than last year! It will run for 3 weeks- from February 12 to March 1.
***very important - students do NOT have to raise money to participate in the read-a-thon... it is about literacy first!!***
Last year was incredibly successful. Thanks to your support, we were able to purchase new risers that our music program desperately needed. We also funded improvements to the front courtyard and bought over $1000 of new library books!
This year, we are hoping to fund projects for the students -new PE equipment and a blackboard for the outdoor classroom in the monarch garden, and for the teachers- a new industrial laminator so they can more effectively create classroom materials. We estimate these 3 projects to cost around $12K.
Students will be able to earn prizes for the minutes they spend reading and for the amount of money collected on their behalf.
Please know that no amount is too small. Your ongoing backing and support are both truly appreciated.
If you would like to donate per minute read, but are unsure how much to pledge, consider this:
If a child logs 100 minutes over the month, you would pay:
$5 at $0.05/ minute
$10 at $0.10/ minute
$20 at $0.20/ minute
$30 at $0.30/ minute
$40 at $0.40/ minute
If a child logs 300 minutes, you would pay:
$15 at $0.05/ minute
$30 at $0.10/ minute
$60 at $0.20/ minute
$90 at $0.30/ minute
$120 at $0.40/ minute
If a child logs 500 minutes, you would pay:
$25 at $0.05/ minute
$50 at $0.10/ minute
$100 at $0.20/ minute
$150 at $0.30/ minute
$200 at $0.40/ minute
A 3rd - 5th grade student may read 100-200 minutes/ week.
A PK-2nd grade student may log 40-70 minutes/ week.
The actual amount will vary from child to child.
