I am lacing up my sneakers and walking with my classmates at the McCarter Elementary Walk-a-thon. This event raises money for me and my classmates to enjoy new playground equipment, transportation to field trips, and enhanced classroom activities.

I would appreciate it (and so would my 400 schoolmates) if you could help support me.

Our Walk-a-thon gets students moving while raising money to make their school year memorable. With nothing to sell or deliver, funds go directly to support the experiences of students, teachers and staff.

DOUBLE YOUR DONATION -- EVERY dollar donated - up to $8,000! - will be matched by an anonymous donor to purchase new playground equipment for McCarter students to increase physical activity and free play at recess and after school. Help us maximize this generous offer and reach our goal!

We know students love showing school spirit each Fun Friday by wearing their McCarter purple. In fall of the 2016-2017 school year, the McCarter PTO will purchase a purple McCarter Mustang t-shirts for each student so that EVERYONE can show their McCarter Pride.

Over 70% of McCarter students qualify for free and reduced lunch and the McCarter PTO is committed to initiatives and activities that support equity for all students. McCarter Elementary is proud of the incredible support of our families, friends, coworkers and community.

After a year of construction, our new FEMA shelter gymnasium (funded through the Topeka Public Schools District 501 bond issue which passed in 2014) is complete and our Walk-a-thon will celebrate this amazing new space for learning and physical activity.
