PS 172 is a local elementary school that serves over 600 students from Pre-k through fifth grade in Sunset Park Brooklyn. PS 172 is a Title 1 school which means a significant part of our families are low income. Our students are high academic achievers. PS 172 students rank 9th in math and 7th in English among the city’s top 10 schools.

Throughout the year, the PTA engages in numerous fundraising efforts to raise money to:
·Run a significantly reduced cost to families
·Implement fun family and student-centered activities
·Purchase needed classroom supplies or equipment
·Expand opportunities for learning and academic enrichment during the school day

Help students at PS 172 reach our goal for our Annual Read-A-Thon! The Read-A-Thon is our annual fundraiser event where students are encouraged to read to not only share their joy of reading but also to raise money for our school and to help encourage community service.

During the Read-A-Thon, students and book lovers read and collect donations based on the number of pages and minutes they read
