About this fundraiser:

H-E-R-O-E-S Work, Learn and Play Here!

In the last 12 months, our students, teachers, aides, custodians, bus drivers, food service workers, school administration, staff and families have faced the unknown and prevailed. They have faced struggles, situations and a whole new way of day-to-day activities including virtual learning and social distancing. Everyone has gone through so much change and uncertainty and it’s time to reward all of them --- all of our heroes for their hard word, dedication and adaptability.

This year's Fun Run will be different as we, as a school, are still adjusting to our new normal post COVID. Students are encouraged to dress as their favorite hero. This can be a hero from TV or movies, but it can also be a hero that they see in their everyday life. Their hero can be a police officer, a nurse, a doctor, a teacher, a fire personnel, a delivery person, a store clerk or anyone that has impacted the child’s life during the pandemic. Every student that participates will receive a cape and mask for the run. This year our school has a goal. If we reach our goal the students will get to turn the school principal, Mrs. Spears, into a human ice cream sundae!!! Classes will get prizes for reaching their classroom goal and students will get prizes for raising the most in their class and the school!

You can donate online with a credit card or pay pal through 99 pledges, or you can donate cash or check and send that directly with your student to the school.

Unfortunately we will nit be able to have parent volunteers this year, but there is still a way for parents/families to get involved. You can make signs to post on the lawn for the children to see. They need to be posted at the school on April 22nd after school. Also because of restrictions we will not be running on the road, but we have a fun course for the kids to take on this year! So get registered and get ready! We can't wait to see you there!

***Nominate a Hero Contest***

This year, we are also adding a contest to our fun run! Students will be asked to write an essay (or draw a picture) and nominate someone that has made an impression on them during this pandemic, someone that has gone the extra step to help others, someone that the student sees as a hero. This person can be a friend or can be someone in their family. Examples of a local hero can be a police officer, medical staff, teacher, fire personnel, store clerk, custodian, bus driver, food service or restaurant worker, fellow student, farmer or something else.

The essay will need to contain the following:
1. Explain who their hero is ( Hero’s Name – Occupation )

2. Explain why they chose them

3. Explain what their hero did to help during the pandemic

4. Explain what makes them so special

*Students in Preschool, Kindergarten, and First Grade may draw a picture of their hero. An adult can help the student with writing who the person is that they are nominating and why.

*Students in Grades 2-4 will need to write an essay that contains the list above and must also contain at least 8 sentences. Photos and drawings are also encouraged to be included with the essay.

There will be one winner from every classroom and the winner will be announced after the fun run! Prize to be determined.

Deadline for Essay/Drawing Entries is: ____4/16/2021_______________________________.

Ritter Elementary is proud to be a school where student learning thrives and children feel good about the place they call their school. We believe that this is because of the incredible students that attend our school, the awesome staff who believe that relationships with students are key to optimal learning and more importantly the incredible support of our families. We could not engage in the wonderful learning opportunities and the fun things we do here without your monetary support. Please know that no amount is too small. Your ongoing backing and support are both truly appreciated. Some students may not reach their goal, and that is okay! We just want everyone to participate and get involved and show your school spirit!!!
